Education is the foundation for the upliftment of mankind. While India is making rapid economic progress, the children of rural India remain devoid of the basic benefits of growth and development.

By giving them a smile you may make their day, giving them food and shelter will take care of their basic needs, but along with this when you give them the gift of education you will take them a step towards permanence and will give them a life of dignity and better living.

Shrimad Rajchandra Educational Trust (SRET), is a powerful endeavour to fill every child it comes across with fullness by providing them with education, value based learning and overall development, in turn sketching a brighter tomorrow for India and mankind as a whole. With a goal of reaching out to and empowering the underprivileged rural child, SRET has started the following operations in rural areas of Gujarat.

  • In 2004, SRET adopted a residential school in Tamachhadi, Dharampur and took it under the wing of Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyavihar (SRV).
  • The school currently houses 175 children from standards 5th to 10th.
  • The school looks after the all round development of children through formal education, cultural activities, sports and moral value based education.
  • SRET has started free coaching classes in 8 different schools in and around Dharampur.
  • This helps 400 children who need extra care and attention in their studies but cannot afford to enroll in commercially run coaching classes.
  • Future plans include preparing students for higher professional studies.
  • The project involves providing training in 22 diverse skills such as tailoring, carpentry, automobile repairs etc. for 200 children who have completed their schooling.
  • Essential aids are provided to them to pursue relevant professions and earn a livelihood for their families.
  • This project involves providing school bags, note books, stationery etc. to families at a subsidized rate.
  • Distribution has grown from 50,000 units of educational aids in 2005 to 4 lac units in 2009, reaching out to 25,000 children.
  • This project involves providing hygienic and nutritious food packets every day to 300 children who travel daily to their respective schools from far off villages.
