Under the SRRHP Project SRH has taken ambitious initiatives to improve the basic health conditions of needy people unable to reach the hospital as they lack the means of transport to do so. SRH will provide them accessibility by reaching out to them and taking care of their health needs.

The SRRHP programme was started in August 2005. In the first phase, a team of doctors, nurses and social workers visited 25 villages each month in the Dharampur and Kaprada talukas. These areas are largely populated by adivasis, most of whom are economically backward. The patients were examined and treated free of cost and those who required further medical care were referred to SRH.

Details of the activities during the first phase - from August 2005 to June 2006 are as follows:

In the second phase - from July 2006 onwards - SRRHP decided to concentrate its focus in order to provide more effective services. Five locations which had no medical facilities were identified and the SRRHP team now visits these locations every week. A sixth location was introduced in January 2007 in association with the Bhansali Trust. The activities in the second phase comprise of:

  • Weekly visits to each village centre by our medical and paramedical teams
  • Onsite treatment and referral services
  • Preventive health care measures through awareness campaigns on nutrition and hygiene

The number of patients who have been examined and treated are as follows:

Tumbhi
Makadbandh
Khanda
Pangarbari
Chondha
