Divine Moments of Paryushan Parva 2009
(16th August - 23rd August, '09)

The auspicious occasion of Paryushan Parva, '09 was majestically celebrated from 16th August to 23rd August, under the divine presence of Pujyashri Gurudev and the all-embracing grace of Param Krupalu Dev, Shrimad Rajchandraji.

With the recent risk of swine flu in the city of Mumbai, several precautionary measures were undertaken by the Organization to prevent the possible spread of the contagion amongst aspirants and thus make a safe gathering of a few thousand people possible. Devotees too, uncompromisingly assembled in large numbers to drench themselves in the sessions of Pravachan, Bhakti and Snatra Puja held everyday during this sacred eight-day Jain festival.

The days would begin with a beautiful Snatra Puja, accompanied by nrutya bhakti performed by various devotees, celebrating grandly and in a spirit of immense joy the ‘Chyavan’ and ‘Janma’ kalyanaks of Tirthankar Bhagwan. This was then followed by the jewels of elevating Pravachans, zealously imparted by Pujyashri Gurudev, every morning, to about 2,500 keen aspirants. The evenings were blessed with the flow of heart stirring Bhakti, serving as a devotional slide into the depths of the blissful ocean of Pravachan where over 4,000 aspirants plunged to attain the hidden treasures of their souls.

Pujyashri Gurudev’s mesmerizing exposition on the profound Adhyays of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita has begun to lead a surging revolution in the lives of many who are progressively moving forward on the path of spiritual growth. The tenth, eleventh and twelfth Adhyays of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, namely Vibhutiyog, Vishvaroopdarshanyog and Bhaktiyog were elucidated upon and brought alive by Pujyashri Gurudev’s enchanting teachings during this Paryushan, which unleashed invaluable success tips on how to become the Lord’s Beloved Bhakt. He even advocated a daily recitation, of those beautiful shloks of Bhaktiyog that describe the qualities of a true devotee, as a source of continuous inspiration to stay connected with the Divine.

On the fifth day of Paryushan, the birth of Bhagwan Mahavir was celebrated in a mood of high gusto and delight with the grand Supan Mahotsav, which included a dance enactment of the fourteen divine dreams of Trishlamata and the Tandav of bursting joy by the Indra who takes 5 forms. Each and every aspirant seated in the satsang hall rejoiced in nrutya bhakti, churning waves of devotional dance across the floor. Pujyashri Gurudev then swayed the cradle of newborn Bhagwan Mahavir and sent out electrifying sparks of spiritual connection to one and all.

On the eighth day, the chaste occasion of Samvatsari was inaugurated by Snatra Puja and Pravachan, followed by the gracious presence of Swaminarayan saints. During the Samvatsarik Alochana recitation, devotees were filled with the bhaav of seeking forgiveness, for their past actions that may have knowingly or unknowingly hurt others throughout the year. Pujyashri Gurudev, Himself, walked through all the levels of the satsang hall bestowing His karuna drashti on all the devotees, whose hearts were swelled with atonement and gratitude for Param Krupalu Dev.

There was a burst of elation and joy in the Tapascharya Parna that was celebrated the next day after Paryushan, where Pujyashri Gurudev, Himself, did the parna of over 70 fortunate tapasvis, of which around half were youngsters.

Truly, this annual festival has proved to be a divine workshop conducted in a holy sanctum on spiritually starved souls… all towards the goal of absolute and ultimate bliss.
