Since
the last 25 years, a group of people residing in Mumbai
has been following the teachings of Shrimad
Rajchandra (Param Krupalu Dev) under the divine guidance of Pujyashri Gurudev. They participate in various activities
like bhakti, pravachan etc. At first, these activities
were conducted at the homes of various followers; however
as light kindles light, the number of followers began
to increase and soon reached a sizeable figure. Thus,
it became essential to further systematize the activities
of this group. As a result, a trust under the name of
Shrimad
Rajchandra Adhyatmik Satsang Sadhana Kendra
was established in 1994.
Guided by Pujyashri Gurudev's vision the
'Shrimad Rajchandra Adhyatmik Satsang Sadhana Kendra'
facilitates a large number of devotees in Mumbai to
integrate Param Krupalu Dev's teachings in their lives.
Pujyashri Gurudev's Pravachans are held in Mumbai every
fortnight.
Bombay Market Apartments - Tardeo,
is the organization's main centre in Mumbai, where one
can experience togetherness with the Divine through
bhakti held here every morning. Audio
and video
recordings of Pujyashri Gurudev's Pravachans and various publications
of the organization are also available here.
The need for an ashram was felt
in order to give a concrete form to the spiritual endeavours
carried out in Mumbai. The human mind out of habit is
easily distracted by external influences. In order to
break this habit, it is essential to maintain a distance
from worldly activities and events. To focus on the
inner self, it is important to take the help of favourable
and auspicious influences. Regular practice of spiritual
activities like bhakti, pravachan, dhyan etc. help
retain one's focus on the path and are conducive to
the journey within.
It is with this objective that
Pujyashri Gurudev has conceived and inspired the formation
of the Shrimad
Rajchandra Ashram, which was established
by the trust on the auspicious day of Mahavir Jayanti,
2001 on the blessed land of Dharampur.
The key reason behind the selection
of Dharampur (Dist. Valsad, South Gujarat) as the ashram
site lay in the fact that this land has been blessed
by Param Krupalu Dev's physical presence. In
the year 1900, He had consecrated this soil of Dharampur
for about 35 days (from Chaitra Sud Ekam to Vaishakh
Sud Pancham V.S. 1956). He had spent much of His
time in solitude at the crematorium and in the surrounding
jungles, immersed in spiritual bliss. Consequently,
under the auspices of the Ashram, a magnificent
memorial of Param Krupalu Dev has been constructed on
the grounds of the crematorium at Dharampur.
Another major reason in the
choice of Dharampur as the ashram site was its
proximity to Mumbai. Being only 215 kms. from Mumbai,
devotees can visit the Ashram frequently and
engage in various religious activities enabling their
constant progress on the path of spiritual upliftment.
