This year the Satsang Shibirs in the Ashram at Dharampur are based on one of the world’s classic works on Absolute Truth – Ashtavakra Gita. It is a unique text which systematically deals with the mystical innate experiences of a seeker in his flight towards transcendental peace and bliss.
As in the Bhagavad Gita, here in Ashtavakra Gita also, we find the subtle philosophical truths expounded in the form of a lucid dialogue between Ashtavakra, the twelve year old great Guru and King Janak, the humble disciple.
This dialogue provides an extraordinary instance of the divine element in the relationship between a Self-realized Guru and a spiritually “mature” disciple, i.e. one who is waiting for one quick spark of initiation into Truth that brings about spiritual enlightenment.
It is a comparatively small treatise, compact and well knit, containing 298 shloks, conveying the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth. |
